REFLECTIONS

From Matt:  Last night’s finale was unbelievable. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that showed up to support us losers. Thank you to everyone that took time out of their lives to celebrate with us. Everyone was so positive. Dr. Paul’s numbers on how everyone improved were very impressive.
During the past 12 weeks, I had the opportunity to meet 6 other people that were also battling to get their health back. We each came from different backrounds, different ages, different personalities, but one common goal. To get our health back and live a long active life with our families. It was an absolute honor to be part of such a dedicated group of individuals that lost over 400 lbs.

That’s right Cathi, I’m including you. You were an inspiration to me. With what you went through with the migraines and your knee injury, you never gave up. As frustrated as you were at times , you persevered and pushed yourself farther than I bet you ever thought you could get. You are a warrior.

Tom, I couldn’t imagine going through this at 64. I had a lot of fun working with you at boot camp. We had some good laughs.Your love for your family is quite obvious by your constant determination and accomplishments. No more drugs!! Unbelievable.

Karen, you have spent most of your adult life raising three sons and putting the lives of others before your own. One would consider that heroic. You have now taken care of yourself and look amazing. Never forget the importance of who you are and what you mean to the people in your life.

Katie should be in a circus. I have never met someone that juggles as many things at once as you do. Watching what you do each day gives me a new appreciation for being organized. You have inspired young students everywhere to be healthier and more active. I will miss your million dollar smile.

Brian, you are the most determined and competitive person I have ever met. You came into this determined to get healthier for your family and find a way to control the stress in your life. Looking at you at the finale,  if I didn’t see you 12 weeks ago I would wonder what you were doing there. 206? Unbelievable, brother.

Michael White, The 2012 Fittest Loser. I congratulate you. For 12 weeks, you never faltered. You never questioned what Wade was telling you to do, and you never quit. I thank you for that. It was that competitive nature that pushed me beyond where I thought I could push myself and as a result we both turned in some unbelievable numbers. I hope you take advantage of this new found strength. I hope you and your wife have many healthy, happy babies in the future. That will keep you in shape.

This has been a life changing experience for myself. Four months ago I did not know what to do. I had high blood pressure, 235 cholesterol, 340 triglycerides and a nephew that was worried was going to die. Today my blood pressure is 117/72. My cholesterol is 174 and my triglycerides are 54. I have lost 97 lbs in 12 weeks. I still cannot believe it.

To my trainer Mark Trapp. You, my friend, have saved my life! Thank you for believing in me and pushing me beyond my wildest dreams. I will never be able to thank you enough for what you have taught me about nutrition and exercise and about myself. I want to thank all of the Push trainers for always having an encouraging word and for pushing me. To Tony who always knew how to get the most out of us during boot camp, please buy a new stopwatch.

To my loving wife Colleen who always pushed me when I didn’t want to get up and get to the gym. You have always supported me and I could have never done this without that support. p.s.thanks for shaving my back and my chest the night before the final weigh in. I would of lost by 2 lbs if you had not done that. To my loving family and friends. It was your words of encouragement that helped me to keep going when I wanted to quit. I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life.

I want to thank all of the sponsors for their support and of course The Daily Herald for giving me this remarkable opportunity to change my life. I hope you continue to have this program for years to come. It does not matter how old you are, how much money you make, where you are from, or your medical condition, if you want to change your life and have the support behind you, YOU CAN DO IT!! NEVER SAY NEVER! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! Don’t be afraid to ask for help, it is never too late.
