Jayne Nothnagel, a 52-year-old customer service representative for Waste Management, admits that she has battled with a weight problem “all of my life.”

“I have an ongoing battle to maintain my weight,’’ said Nothnagel, who is 5-6 and weighs 213 pounds. “I go with common sense and healthy eating, but what holds me back is the lack of willpower.”

Nothnagel said she is victimized by night hunger, when she ends up eating the things she has tried to avoid all day long.

Conducting her personal business in the public eye is going to be one of her best motivators to succeed in the competition, Nothnagel said.

“It is a concern, but I think it is a real positive concern,’’ Nothnagel said. “I want to succeed and it will make me think before I put something unhealthy in my mouth.”

Nothnagel’s support system includes her husband and an adult son and daughter. She has an exercise room in her home, which she said she will spend more time in during the next three months, and she also plans on calling on her competitive spirit to see her through.

“I’m very competitive, but I’m not as concerned with the final prize as with doing this and being successful at it,’’ Nothnagel said.

  1. Way to go mom! I’m so proud of you and know you have the self motivation to meet your goals. I miss you a ton and think of you everyday while I am at the gym.

p.s: I still want a good hearty meal for when I come home (Mark doesn’t have to know) xoxox

  2. Jayne, you are amazing! I think it took great courage for you to share your story with the public like you are. You are inspiring me to work harder on my own weight issues. You go, girlfriend! I know you can do it.

p.s.: I guess we won’t be bringing any goodies on our next girls’ getaway!

  3. Hi Mike,
Thanks for your nice note and support! I love you so much – Imiss you – seems like you have not been home for awhile. I promise to make you a nice hearty meal – I am definitely NOT going off my plan. I’ll also teach you many things about sodium, fat and protein! We need to watch our sodium and sugar! Looking forward to seeing you on Friday! Love ya so much, Mom xox

  4. Hey you – hi Girlfriend, Linnie!
Ahh, thanks for your nice note and on-going support! We are in this together! I think our “buffets” need to be a thing of the past – SO, SO looking forward to our Girl’s over-nighter! I am staying on plan – I have so much time invested that I don’t want to blow it. I plan on having a celebration at our house for all the “Fittest Losers” when this is over! My trainer, Mark is a great guy – he does not make me feel like a whale; although he’s probably thinking that to himself – ha/ha! I don’t want to let him down so I will just keep going day by day. Oh, Mike is going to set the TV up in the exercise room so I get more channels – I can fantasize and watch the food network while I’m on the treadmil.
Thanks again for your life-long friendship and support!
    Love ya,
    Jayne

  5. Hey, Jayne – Just read the story in today’s Daily Herald. I am so proud of you for putting yourself through this! Having enjoyed many New Year’s Eve feasts at your house, I know what a great cook you are and how much you enjoy the combination of food and friends. You have inspired me – I just got back from Best Buy with two Jillian Michaels DVD workouts and a renewed commitment to make it work this time. I will be following your progress, and I know that you will achieve great results.
