2011 Contest coming to an end. Now what?

From Eileen:  Well, the Fittest Loser contest is officially over for the year … although the winner won’t be announced until Wednesday. (The party is at 6:30 p.m. at John Barleycorn in Schaumburg).

The big question, however, is will they be able to keep up the momentum when the spotlight ends? All of their trainers believe they will continue on their fitness journey, as you can read in the Daily Herald’s Health and Fitness section today.

But as we all know that’s not so easy. Joe has written a lot about managing attention and changing one’s mind in or order to change one’s habits. In particular, he discusses using the part-of-me protocol to get your mind organized for permanent change.

The subtle changes you make in tweaking your thought process  are 1,000 times more important than that 100th sit-up.

So while everyone is celebrating their success and weight loss this week, I hope they take a little time for some mental planning for the future. It’s easy to lose weight … it’s so very difficult to keep it off.
