Hitting the airwaves….

From Mike: Listen in to the John Williams show on WGN Radio 720 am on Friday at 2:35 pm.

I will be chatting with John about the competition thus far.

I have a mind that is fighting my body!

From Karen: Well there is Special K crisis! I can’t even think of eating food. Any sort of food just makes me sick. Literally visit the bathroom going to be sick! Its not a good feeling. I have reached out to Tony and he said its my mind fighting my body! Just fight this Special K and it will pass. I hope again to be hungry and WANT to eat food but for now its a struggle. Reached out to other contestants to see if they have the same feelings. OMG I feel better already. I am not alone! I know my mind is stronger than I think and will work through this issue! I will someday soon again love to eat, chicken, tuna, salad, FOOD.. Go Loser!  Fight this crisis!

Do-Si-Do’s, Samoas, Tagalongs

From Mike:  I am fortunate enough to have a great support team at home and in the workplace. While some of them may have my best interest in heart, they may be a bit off.

When I got to work this morning after a fantastic workout, my co-worker asks me if I like peanut butter. I say yes. He say’s are you allowed to have peanut butter? I say yes. He then tosses me a box of Girl Scout Cookies.

Publication Time!

From Karen: I admit I was a little scared to walk to the end of the driveway Monday morning to pick up the paper. I knew it was “the day” ..the day is the time that everyone will know and see what I am devoting my time to. I sat quietly reading MY story and it made me cry! Then I read my fellow competitors stories and could relate to each and every one of them! Posted at work when I walked in the door was a copy of the photo with a big “Go Karen” on it! Knowing I have co-workers, friends and family behind me makes me proud to be who I am! “Special K” over and out!

High Fives All Around

From Mike: It is great being back at work after having President’s Day off. During my morning mail route, I was stopped with many congratulations and praise for the story in the Daily Herald on Monday.

Meet the Daily Herald’s very own Fittest Loser

Cathi Edman and Trainer George Gersch at the beginning of the 2012 Fittest Loser Challenge at Push Fitness in Schaumburg.

Boot Camp!

From Karen: Great work today “losers”!  Wish we had more group talk time!  Matt thanks for the menu suggestions.. Everyone have a great week!  I think Tony needs to include some sort of dancing for us as a group!  It would be fun!

That channel with all the food….

From Mike: I enjoy watching many food related shows. For a long time,  I thought I was destined to be a professional competitive e ater.  Man Vs. Food, Diners.. Drive-ins and Dives, No Reservations are all shows that used to garble my attention and stir cravings resulting in fast-food runs, or grocery store trips. However, as I was watching Beef Paradise last night I found myself not wanting anything to do with a 3 lb burger.

Now another Friday night without any pizza.

LIVING LIFE LARGE

From Matt: How do you know it is time to apply for the fittest loser competition? Is it when you bend the seat of a folding chair like a beer can or when the flight attendant stares you downas she asks for a volunteer to move to the front of the plane so that we can take off? Why not just say, will the fat guy please move to the front for take off?

Not What I Expected

From Tom:  It’s been a little over a week and a half since this contest started and so far it’s failed to live up to my expectations. I expected to be hungry all of the time. I’m not. To the contrary, it seems like I’m eating all of the time. If not eating, then cooking something, or trying to figure out when I’m supposed to eat next, or planning what to eat. We have to eat FIVE TIMES A DAY.
